Crafty Things - For getting, just about anything would be cool with me! Jewelry is nice, and I could use an imp box - I have most of the keepers sort of in progress of being organized into sectioned-off plastic boxes sorted by year and/or category - but my not-yet-sorted ones, swaps, and especially the "to be tried" and "must try again" ones are shoved in a drawer in ziplock baggies and shot glasses. I own no handmade socks... I knit but never seem to finish anything for myself so armwarmers or things like that would be great (I am always cold! My hands are cold NOW!) Baked goods would be awesome; and art like drawings or paintings or collage or whatever. Basically anything hand crafted I'd be thrilled with. Anything that is scaled to, fits, or otherwise works with my BJD's (ball jointed dolls) would be very, very welcome. They are the focus of most of my crafting and creativity right now.
For making, I go through periods where I knit a lot, and once every 8 years or so pick back up on cross stitch for a few months. I used to scrapbook a lot but haven't lately. I'm plotting a craft for the altered altoid tin swap right now, I suspect I'll do more than the one that I need to send out, though! I'm trying to learn to sew, but I'm nowhere near being able to make much of anything for anyone yet. I did make a pillowcase for my travel pillow recently, though! I could use some really really tiny knitting needles (smaller than 0). I forgot to mention that I do some beading, but am not especially good or skilled at it. I've been wanting to try making polymer clay things, too.
Emu-Oil Soap - I'd try soap made with emu oil too. At first I was a little wierded out by the idea, but that doesn't really make sense considering I'm not vegetarian.
Ultra-Girlie Shawls/Wraps - Those are lovely! I am in need of something to keep me somewhat warm when I'm wearing something dressy (IE - I have no light dressy sweaters, and churches, nice restaurants, etc. might be HOT or might be FREEZING and you never know which it'll be), since hoodies aren't always appropriate, and those are gorgeous! So I would definitely be happy if one of those came my way. In fact I might make an attempt to make something like that, at some point in the distant future.
BPTP Bath Oils/Room Sprays - I have not tried ANY of the bath oils or massage oils! For room sprays I've tried Down the Rabbit Hole, the Queen's Croquet Ground, Dungeon, All Hallows Eve, and Cathouse. I didn't really feel the need to buy any more of them, though. Other than those room sprays, if it's from the trading post, I probably haven't tried it (except I've tested Hellion - LOVE!, and Crypt Queen - sadly did not work). The lab gets the money, while I look longingly at the Trading Post items wishing for more to spend! I'd particularly love to try the Snow White room spray, Glacies or Luxuria or Castitas Bath Oil, TKO Massage oil... just about anything really!
I barely keep up my LJ, I don't know if I should even look at Dreamwidth. Unless it's less annoying than LJ. One of the reasons I don't update over there is that it doesn't make much sense to me. I'm sure I'll get better as I use it more.
Hand-knit socks would be lovely. Especially funky ones, or soft warm ones for wearing when my feet are cold. I am a beginner knitter who has not attempted socks yet.
Hand-Dyed Items - If it's subtle marbling, that's cool. I'm not so into bright tie-dye looks, though.
Ipod/MP3's - Yes! I have an 80g Ipod, which overflowed a while ago, but I would love new music to go on it. I'll make it fit. I need to upgrade to a 160g, but haven't yet. I also have a Nano for walking. Mix cd's are welcome too, but please label them!
Things from outside the US - Candy, chocolate, Tim Tams... all wonderful. Kinder bars! I love trying new things, so send them on!
Would anyone like bath bombs or bath melts scented with one of their favorite Bpal scents? I do these for myself sometimes and find them to be quite enjoyable. - I don't take baths all that often, but still would like these. I really am much more of a shower person, though.
Would you like homemade cinnamon buns or sticky buns? - yes! Yum! Though it's seriously HOT here already, not sure how well they'd mail. And the whole need-to-diet thing. If you send them I'll eat and enjoy them, though!
Is there anyone here that likes Hello Kitty or any other Sanrio Characters? - Yes! I'm not hugely into them but I do really like Hello Kitty (especially in the red and white, or gothy or punk), Badtz Maru, Chococat, and Kuromi. I always go in the Sanrio store when I'm at the mall.
BPAL Scented soap, massage bars or scented scrub bars - Yes, that would be wonderful!
Online games like WoW - No, I don't play anything like that.
Program or Show which could be found or burned - Rollergames! I adored that show. GLOW (gorgeous ladies of wresting - yes I do like cheesy shows!). The 90's X-Men cartoon. Young Hercules. Episodes of MST3K (especially Alien from LA). I never watched Carnivale or Lexx but should have.
Recycle/Upcycle crafting supplies - sounds wonderful! Interesting fabrics, beads, tins, yarn, I love ephemera paper stuff - old ads/illustrations etc. I'm learning to sew for my dolls so it doesn't even need to be a LOT of fabric. I really want to make my girl doll a fabulous neo-victorian steampunk bustle skirt, and a gypsy/bellydance sort of skirt.
If you were to make a seasonal mix CD for this summer, what would you name it? - I have no idea! Probably something boring like Summer '09 Mix.
Do you collect dolls or miniatures? What kind? Do you like to get new clothes or items for them? - Why yes I do! LOL! I'm sure I covered it pretty well in the questionnaire, but for the record I collect BJD's. Most of mine are 1/4 or MSD (mini) size, one is 1/3 or SD size. I just ordered a tiny, a Puki. I LOVE accessories and clothes and things for them. I currently have 2 Dollzone mini boys (Mo and Xi-Aliester) , two Minifee boy heads (Shiwoo and Seorin) sharing a Dollzone mini boy body, a CP/Luts (Yder) head on a Fantasy Doll boy 1/3 body, a girl Minifee (Shushu) head - her Minifee A-line body has just been ordered, and a Puki Pipi just ordered also.
Are there any single notes (likely non bpal) that anyone is dying to have/try? - None specifically I can think of, but I would like to try some. Preferably not rose, though.
And what would you witchees think of a net flick or the likes gift subscriptions? A month of Netflicks vs a DvD? - Either would be great! I don't watch TV a ton but I would make time for it, and Netflicks has plenty of stuff I can get and watch while walking on the treadmill, too. Movies and things I like I tend to watch repeatedly, so DVD's are good, too.
Coraline - Sure! I've read the book but haven't yet seen the movie.
Not the first person to receive the same gift - Doesn't bother me at all!
Decanting Supplies/Wand Caps/Etc. - yes, please! I have none, and it would be nice to be able to make frimps or decant some out for travel use.
Video Games - I have a PS2, PSP, Game Boy Advance (somewhere) and a NES (yes, the old one!). I don't play super often, but I love the Kingdom Hearts games! I'm currently almost done with Kingdom Hearts 2 on the PS2, and am working my way through Crisis Core on the PSP. I'd LOVE to have Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for the PS2 - I've played it on the game boy but PS2 would be better. I own FFVIII but not VII, but like the characters more than the game play on those. The most popular game on my NES is Super Mario 3. I also like puzzle games like Tetris or Bejeweled Blitz (I play on facebook, would love a non-facebook version). And I'd love to have a Mahjong game. My computer is a Mac PowerBook G4. I have the Sims 2, but got bored of it (well, and frustrated with it!) fairly quickly. I used to play Pharaoh all the time when I had a PC, I'd love another game like that!
Pets - My kitty is living with my sister, and doesn't really need anything. If my Witch has pet items he/she is wanting to send, though, I'll make sure my kitty (or my mom's kitties) or my dad's (large outdoor half-husky) dog gets them. I know they'll appreciate it!
Twilight - I actually own a copy of the book, but have not been able to bring myself to read it or watch more than the first few minutes of the movie, so Twilight things will probably be lost on me. Harry Potter stuff, however, is always welcome. Especially if it's Slytherin.
Carnaval acts - I'm looking forward to whatever comes, especially the rides. I loved Midway, though I don't wear it super often, but just the whole Carnival concept is awesome in my mind. My current faves are Madame Moriarty and Antonino, The Carny Talker.
Does your feline like catnip? - She'd probably be into it. Her brother would go NUTS.
Salt soap bars (soap made with a large quantity of salt, like salt-scrub-in-a-bar)? Sure! I like the one I have from Magic Hands.
How would you feel about homemade jelly/jam from home-grown berries? - Sure, I'll try it!
Homemade dill pickles? - I'll try those, too. I'd prefer the regular cucumber kind, but anything I don't like my dad will enjoy!
steampunk style jewelry? - YES PLEASE!!! I have none, but definitely want some.
Tea - Ice cold, brewed fairly strong, and as sweet as you can get it - you have to put the sugar in while it's HOT because it won't hold enough to taste right once it's cold. I've tried hot teas and they're OK, but I'm not a huge fan. And I really don't like lemon in my tea. I much prefer hot chocolate to hot tea.
Anime - I'm not into it. I probably would like it if I saw the right one, though, since I love most of the Final Fantasy stuff including Advent Children. My in-person anime hookup refuses to bring anything I suggest, and persists in bringing things featuring annoying big-eyed screechy girls. His constant refrain is "I fount this anime I think you'd like... it's 450 half-hour episodes and two movies though..." and then he never brings over even the first one. I'm guessing I might like Full Metal Alchemist?
What are your favorite animals? - Well, I like kitties of course. And years ago I collected stuffed bunnies, and later penguins. In college I had an affinity for ladybugs, and I still think they're pretty. Nothing I'd especially say I have an affinity for, though.
Are there any historical figures you are particularly interested in - say, that you'd enjoy reading about, or movies, etc.? No specific person I can think of, but I like reading about how things were, what people wore, that sort of thing. Minor yet interesting historical people are fun to learn about (I was killing some time today reading about some of the people who were on the Titanic, for example) and of course alternative performers/vaudeville/the like. I remember reading a bio of Lotta Crabtree when i was in elementary school, I thought she was awesome.
What, if anything, are you earwormed with right now? Nothing, thankfully.
What scent are you wearing right now, if any? Nothing at the moment. I overslept this morning and rushed out without putting anything on.
beer? I don't think I like beer. I haven't tried many, to be fair. I like my drinks - ALL my drinks - to be sweet.
Posters, yes or no? Posters are good! I especially like graphic ones, or art nouveau style, or vintage-look ones. I've been planning to hang the one Epcot food & wine festival poster I have in my kitchen. I'm going again this fall and will buy another one.
Chips I tend to go for plain chips more than flavored ones, though I do like salt & vinegar, and had some one time that tasted like pickles that I liked.
Books I collect - The old 60's (or 50's) edition Nancy Drew books. I need to get a list together of which ones I have - I'm missing some, especially later ones. I also love books about true ghost stories or hauntings. Oooh, or old etiquette or the like books, too, if that makes sense - I have an old 50's Girl Scout handbook, things like that. Rather than books about what things were like "back when", the actual books (or magazines) people READ back then. And anything about things that are strange but true, or things like that. look at lileks.com, for example. (In fact, I'd really like any of James Lileks books!)
Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with?
Chain mail? Like bracelets and stuff. It looks like it'd be fun to make. And I'm trying to learn to sew, doll clothes mostly.
Favorite kinds of wood - I don't really have a favorite. I tend toward "dark" but that's about it.
Favorite materials/material things - jewelry, paper (old ads or postcards or whatever especially), stone, maybe?
Are you obsessed with honey? If so, is there a particular kind you like best? Spun honey, flavored honeys, certain types of honey.... etc.
I like honey but don't know much about the different kinds. If my witch feels so inclined I would be happy to try small amounts of different kinds! Including comb honey, I've never tried it.
